Family Visit!

Saki's sister and her family made the trip from Utah out to the bay for a fun filled week! Brenna and Mere are close in age and enjoyed being wild together :) We spent some time around the house and also got to go to Stinson Beach, the zoo, a church baptism for a distant relative of Saki's family, and a (Fijian Branch) family dance. Saki and I blew up lots of balloons the night before with some other members of the branch :)

Yes quinoa is fun to eat, but it sure makes a mess! Enjoying the bubble machine from Uncle Robert and Aunt Camille :) Mere and Glenn both love wearing shoes-Mere loves socks on her hands and feet too. The neighbor gave us some boots and they both think they're neat to walk around in...

Glenn's 1st Birthday July 2010

Glenn turned one and we wanted to do something traditional Fijian (minus the big meal and so many people) to keep it within our budget. We asked Saki's parents and they were up for a family dinner and delighted us with their celebration--they got the mats and masi cloth out of storage. Since there was not little masi for Glenn to wear Seru wore it on his behalf as he was presented to her. She held him and presented him with a whale's tooth, the most highly prized gift in Fiji. It was such an honor to have them do this for him! Seru presented it as her family status permits her to do so.

Mere and I made a cake in green yellow and red, but the food coloring or cake recipe tasted funny so I made another cake too. I put the balls on it because "ball" was Glenn's first word and his favorite thing to do is throw a ball and chase after it, or give it to you to throw. He will get so excited and laugh and grunt, it's very cute. Mere and I got this tunnel at the "yellow blue store" ie Ikea.

Yep, we're back. . .

A lot has happened, so we will update starting with past events. These photos are of our trip from Southern California to Northern California. Gorgeous beach lines on the route 101 and 1 and friends from Calipat at a suprise birthday/going away party I threw for Saki. I kept him in the back room while I baked 8 cakes and he didn't figure it all the way out so it was a good surprise :) Some of the photos are grainy as I had disposible cameras till the end of July-thanks for my new camera family :) And to potential visitors-if Sunny California won't lure you maybe cheesecake will?

Saki's friend Vikash was in training in San Diego and was able to visit with us!

We made it to Saki's parents who were generous enough to let us stay with them for two months!
